There was never a big, dramatic moment where I decided to start a clothing brand. It was more of a feeling that kept coming back.
I’d walk through stores looking for something to wear that represented my faith without feeling like it belonged on a church camp t-shirt from 2005. Something that felt modern. Something I’d actually want to put on and walk out of the house in. And most of the time, I couldn’t find it.
That gap between what I was looking for and what was available kept nagging at me. I wanted apparel that carried a message but didn’t scream at people. Pieces that could sit in a normal outfit and still say something meaningful when someone noticed. Clean. Simple. Intentional.
The Name
Truth & Tees started with the word itself. “Truth” is translated from the Hebrew word Emet (אמת), which carries a weight that goes beyond just “not lying.” In Hebrew, Emet represents something firm, reliable, and enduring. It’s the kind of truth that doesn’t shift based on what’s trending. That felt right for what I wanted this brand to be.
The “Tees” part keeps it grounded. This isn’t a ministry. It’s not a sermon. It’s a t-shirt. And sometimes a t-shirt is exactly the right thing to start a conversation someone wasn’t expecting to have.
What I Hope This Brand Does
I’m not trying to build the next big fashion label. The goal has always been simpler than that. I want to create pieces that plant seeds. Maybe someone reads a phrase on your shirt at the grocery store and it sticks with them. Maybe a coworker asks what your shirt means and you get to share something real. Maybe someone wears it to a gathering and it sparks a conversation that wouldn’t have happened otherwise.
That’s the whole point. Not loud. Not pushy. Just present. Just available. Just true.
What’s Next
This website is the beginning. I’m launching with a collection of pieces that I genuinely love and would wear myself every day. I’m also building out options for churches, ministries, youth groups, and events that need custom apparel — because I’ve seen firsthand how much a well-designed shirt can bring a group together and extend a message beyond a single event.
